Funeral services for Mary Ann Walton Murphy are to be held Sunday, June 29, in the Greater Grove Street M.B. Church at noon with the Rev. Dennis Redden officiating. Interment shall follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 28, in the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m.

Mary Ann Murphy went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 22, at the St. Dominic Hospital following a brief illness.  She was 79. She worked for the Vicksburg Warren School District under the ABM Industries. She was a member of Bethlehem M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Eva Hall Walton Sr.; her husband, George Murphy; her brothers, Albert Walton Jr., Robert Walton, Samuel (Mule) Walton and Johnny Walton; and her sister, Carrie Walton Cruthirds.

She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Demond “Greedy’ Murphy; her daughters, Donya “Tessie” Murphy-Reed, and Dione “Pooh” Murphy; her brothers, James B. Walton and Sterling Walton; her sisters, Patricia Wiggins, Mary Helen Motley and Bertha Cruthirds; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
