Helen Priestly and William McKee were married at Holy Trinity Church. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Pfc Thomas V. McCelland Jr. was discharged from the U.S. Army after five-and-a-half years of service. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

The Vicksburg Billies defeated Greenville, 4-3. • Services were held for George Shepard. • A group of young voters organized a Friends of Fielding Wright club to assist in his campaign for governor. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Bob Russell was elected president of the Vicksburg Optometrist Club. • Mr. and Mrs. James Kilpatrick announced the birth of a daughter, Robin, on June 22. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Warrenton announced the birth of a son, Bryan David, on June 6. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Services were held for Clifton Terrell Carr. • Christopher Reed Birdsong celebrated his second birthday.

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Ginger McElwee received the Second Century Scholarship and the Kelly Gene Cook Scholarship from Millsaps College.

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

A black bear was spotted and photographed just off Highway 61 South. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

The 81st annual Miss Mississippi Pageant was underway in Vicksburg.
