Warren Central goes 2-1 at summer soccer tournament

Warren Central’s boys soccer team finished its summer with one last fling of success.
The Vikings’ varsity team won two of its three games, and the junior varsity went a perfect 4-0 at the Richland summer tournament on Wednesday.
The varsity defeated Murrah 5-1 and Pearl 2-1, but lost in the finals to Richland 2-0.
Jacob Porter scored three goals, Jonah Artman had two, and Luke Bond and Nick Lee netted one each.
For the junior varsity, Eriam Diaz-Mejias scored a total of eight goals in four games. Jake Williams racked up three, Whit Loper scored twice and Klein Leist once.
The JV Vikings beat Natchez 4-1; Murrah 2-1; Kosciusko 6-0; and Florence 2-1.
Warren Central played two tournaments during the MHSAA’s June practice season and finished with a 7-1 record. It won the Holmes Community College tournament on June 12 and reached the finals of the Richland tournament.
The Vikings will take July off, then begin their long lead-up to the 2025-26 high school season in November. The team has reached the MHSAA Class 6A semifinals each of the last two years.
