Company B, 106th Engineers left for Camp Beauregard, Louisiana. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Mrs. J.D. Pond was ill at Mercy Hospital.

Local and state candidates spoke at the Fourth of July picnic held near Culkin.

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Dr. Joe Stone was installed as president of the Vicksburg Rotary Club. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Mr. and Mrs. Arvis Dennis announced the birth of a daughter, Jennifer Nichole, on June 22. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Those celebrating birthdays included 1-year-old Larry DeAngelo Jones and 2-year-old John Robert Reeder III. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

The 1995 Miss Mississippi franchise led the nation in terms of scholarship money.

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

The Miss Mississippi Parade was held in Vicksburg.

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

A murder on the grounds of Kuhn Hospital led to a call for it to be destroyed.
