Mitch Atkins (1-0) struck out seven and walked only one batter in six innings to get the win.

Reliever Jorge Reyes lost the no-hitter when he gave up a one-out single to Daniel Mayora in the top of the seventh inning. John Cornely worked the ninth and gave up a run to end the shutout.

The win, combined with Mobile’s doubleheader sweep of Huntsville, kept the M-Braves 1 1/2 games back of the BayBears (38-24) in the Southern League’s South Division. There are six games left in the first half.

The M-Braves host Chattanooga tonight at 7 in the finale of a five-game series, then hit the road to play Tennessee in the last series of the first half.
