18-wheeler spills chicken on Interstate 20

Traffic on westbound Interstate 20 backed up this morning after an 18-wheeler carrying frozen chicken overturned.

The rig lost its load at about 1:30 a.m. and blocked two lanes near the U.S. 61 North/Rolling Fork exit, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said in an advisory at midmorning.

Both lanes were shut down for a time to clear debris from the roadway. State transportation officials expected traffic to flow freer by late today.
