Postponements continue as the thaw begins

Warming temperatures today are expected to take some of the snow and ice off the ground, but won’t put some high school sporting events back on the schedule.

Several baseball and softball games were canceled or postponed Thursday and today:

• Porters Chapel Academy’s baseball game tonight against the Jackson Victors was postponed until March 17. PCA’s home game Thursday against Adams Christian was also rained out and will not be made up.

• St. Aloysius’ baseball game tonight against Greenville-St. Joseph was postponed. No makeup date has been set.

St. Al coach Steve Hancock said Bazinsky Field was unplayable and a plan to move the game to Hinds Community College in Raymond fell through.

• A softball game between St. Aloysius and Vicksburg High was postponed Thursday. No makeup date has been set.

• Warren Central and Vicksburg High’s baseball teams had three games at the Mid-Mississippi Classic in Rankin County canceled. Instead, they’ll play Saturday at Warren Central in a tripleheader with Lewisburg and Central Private.

Vicksburg will play Lewisburg at 11 a.m.. followed by Warren Central vs. Lewisburg at 1:30 p.m. and WC vs. Central Private at 4.
