It was the second time this season that Middle Tennessee (24-9) and coach Rick Insell have beaten Ole Miss and his son Matt.

Middle Tennessee advanced to face Temple in the WNIT quarterfinals on Sunday.

Ole Miss, which hadn’t had a winning season since 2009-10, finished this one with a 19-14 record.

The Blue Raiders never gave Ole Miss much of a chance, either. They shot 59.6 percent (28-for-47) from the field for the game and led by 15 points at halftime.

Ole Miss managed to get as close as eight points in the second half, and did outscore Middle Tennessee 44-41 after halftime, but never got the lead.

Ole Miss shot well, hitting 26 of 57 shots from the field (45.6 percent), but wasn’t able to overcome the even better shooting of Middle Tennessee.

Shandricka Sessom led Ole Miss with 18 points, A’Queen Hayes scored 14, and Danielle McCray had 13.
