Christine McInnis Wilkinson

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Christine McInnis Wilkinson, age 102, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., formerly of Vicksburg, died June 16, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama.

Family graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2015, at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery with Dr. Ken Dunivant and the Rev. Dan Kilgore officiating. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations has charge of arrangements.

061815-Christine WilkinsonChristine was born in Quitman on April 16, 1913, and was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pearl McInnis; husband Leyton Guy Wilkinson; brothers Clinton (Juanita), Liston (Linda), and Hugh McInnis; and by sisters, Gladys (Edner) Hailes and Hilda (Leon) Carter.

She is survived by her only child, Carol Wilkinson Wright (Claude); grandchildren Russell Guy Wright (Janet) of Hammond, La., and Randall Lee Wright of Leeds, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Adelia Lynn Wright and Carolyn Marie Wright of Hammond, La.; and nephew, Leon Carter, Jr. (Peggy) of Starkville.

Throughout her lifetime, Christine based her life on strong Christian principles and treasured fond memories of many friends she met while living with her husband in Natchez, Vicksburg, Mobile, Ala., Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa.

She was a loving mother, “Mimi,” and friend who always put others’ needs ahead of her own. She was an excellent homemaker and cook, a talented bridge player, and devoted member of the Lee Class at First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa Senior Ministry, First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa Second Hand Rose Ministry, or Hospice of West Alabama.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Brian Wilhite and staff of Internal Medicine Associates of Tuscaloosa and the wonderful staff of Hospice of West Alabama for their loving care of Christine during her time here on earth.
