John Amos Murphy of Vicksburg died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was 61.

He was a retired carpenter for the Bechtel Corp. and the Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Plant. He was a member of Gospel Temple M. B. Church.  He was church secretary, a member of United Carpenter’s Union Local 3, a 1974 graduate of North Vicksburg High School and a graduate of Hinds Community College.
