JV baseball report

Warren Central 6, Clinton 3 – Landon Stewart went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored to lead Warren Central’s junior varsity baseball team to a win over Clinton. Colin Standish and Christian Oakes combined to allow one earned run in five innings. They walked two and struck out seven.

WC archery beats VHS

In a tuneup for this week’s state archery tournament in Jackson, Warren Central beat Vicksburg High in a matchup of first-year programs 3,085 to 2,740.

Brandon Burton scored 271 out of a possible 300 points to lead WC’s boys to a 1,052 to 883 win over the Gators. Trevor Scribner scored 263 for Warren Central, Jimmy Cortezie was at 260 and Ferran Parker shot 258.

Dylan Wright and Chad Ross were Vicksburg’s high scorers, with 236 points apiece.

In the girls’ competition, Sydnie Smith totaled 259 points, while Madison Dixon and Jennifer Darby scored 254 apiece to lead Warren Central to a 1,015 to 978 win.

Francesca Williams led Vicksburg with 250 points, and Danielle Shehane scored 249.

In the B-team competition, Warren Central beat Vicksburg 2,627 to 2,450. Warren Central’s Jameelah Jones had the high score with 250 points, and Vicksburg’s David White was second with 249.

Vicksburg will compete in the weeklong state tournament Monday afternoon at the Kirk Fordice Equine Center on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson.

Warren Central will take its turn in the tournament on Tuesday afternoon.

Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association members met for individual stroke play. Judy McKnight was the Flight A winner. Lynne Brush won Flight B. Emily Bonelli won Flight C, as well as logging in the lowest putting score of the day.

Lynn bass tournament

The Brayden Lynn Memorial Benefit Bass Classic is scheduled for April 9 at Eagle Lake. The tournament will begin at first safe light and continue until 3 p.m. The entry fee is $100 per boat, with a $10 optional entry fee for the big bass prize. Adult softball league

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult softball league will continue through April 15. Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation Department offices at 100 Army-Navy Drive, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The cost per team is $175, with an extra $10 fee for Warren County residents who live outside the city limits, and a $20 fee for residents from Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborne counties. A mandatory coaches meeting will be held on April 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation offices. All teams must have a representative at this meeting.
