Funeral services for Julia Mae Brown-Prentiss will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Locust Grove M. B. Church with the Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Prentiss died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at her home. She was 84. She was retired from Cooper Lighting Division and was a member of Locust Grove M. B Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Indiana Paulding Brown Sr.; husband, Robert H Prentiss Sr.; brothers, Joe Brown Jr., Arthur Brown and James Brown; sisters, Agnes Carter, Mary Banks, Martha Banks and Charlotte Brown.

Survivors include her son, Robert H. Prentiss Jr. of Vicksburg; six daughters, Betty Smith of Shreveport, La., and Deborah E. Shelby, Carolyn J. Harris, Joyce D Prentiss, Robin Prentiss Johnson and Audrey F. Williams, all of Vicksburg; two sisters, Hazel R. Irving and Margaret Neal, both of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews cousins and other relatives and friends.
