St. Al track wins North State title

CLARKSDALE — DeMichael Harris swept the sprints, Connor Bottin did the same in the hurdles, and St. Aloysius won the team title in the MAIS Class AAA North State meet on Saturday.

Harris finished first in the 100, 200 and 400 meters with times of 10.80, 22.49 and 52.81 seconds, respectively.

Bottin won the 110 meter hurdles in 15.86 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 42.28 seconds. He also was third in the 200 meters behind Harris and Brice Johnson of Greenville-St. Joseph.

Harris and Bottin also teamed up with Ryan Theriot and Parker Brown to win the 4×200 meter relay with a time of 1:34.73.

St. Al scored 60 points as a team to beat Bayou Academy, which scored 53.

In the girls’ meet, St. Al’s Dede Apenyo finished second in both the 100 and 200 meters. St. Al finished sixth in the team standings.
