It includes elected and appointed government officials and business leaders who through their talent and leadership help move the state of Mississippi forward.

The list of selected public officials includes Gov. Phil Bryant, Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper, U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson and other state officials and congressional aides.

Flaggs and Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes are the only local officials on the Top 50 list.

“I’m humbled and honored to be recognized at that level of government and have people think I’ve got that kind of influence in making a difference in this state and this city,” Flaggs said. “And I’m going to see what the future leads me from here.

“It spoke volumes, and I think only two mayors made it,” he said. “I saw a federal judge made it and congressmen. I want to continue to earn that kind of reputation by serving and not being served.”
