Lois Lanelle Berryhill Hudson

PORT GIBSON — Lois Lanelle Berryhill Hudson died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Claiborne County Hospital.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 21, from noon to 2 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson followed by a graveside service at Wintergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Herrin of First Presbyterian Church, Port Gibson will officiate.

Lanelle was born Jan. 6, 1929, to H.D. and Ruby Berryhill of Learned. She received a music degree from Hinds Junior College and moved to Port Gibson to begin her teaching career.

She met the love of her life, James Edward Hudson, and they married on Nov. 30, 1947. They enjoyed 59 years together, until James’ death in 2006.

Lanelle was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put the care of her family first while sharing her exceptional musical talent throughout Claiborne County for over 50 years. Few will forget their time at the piano under Mrs. Hudson’s skillful guidance.

Lanelle is survived by her three daughters, Linda Segrest, Jamie Banks and Vivian Piskovitz; her brothers, H.D. “Sonny” Berryhill and Milton Berryhill; her sister, Faye Berryhill Griffin; grandchildren, Thomas James Segrest, Dr. Jeff Hudson Segrest, Sarah Lauren Emerson, Jessica Hudson Phelps and Vivian Vage Banks; great-grandchildren, Ella Claire Segrest, James Hudson Segrest, Matthew Elkin Segrest, Vivian Frazier Segrest and Austin Lanelle Emerson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special relative, Norine Nabors.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Headley, the staff of Claiborne County Hospital, Clare Burnett and Camellia Home Health, and her special caregivers; Amesha Anderson, Lynn Beverly, Lori Brown, Sandra Harris, Carla Robinson, and Daphne Tinner for all their love, care, and support.
