Oliver is accused of fondling the child.

The arrest followed an investigation that began Dec. 23 when officers were called to Merit Health River Region about a sexual assault on a child.

According to police, the child’s mother said the child told her Oliver had fondled him, and she took him to the hospital to be examined. Oliver also faces a charge of simple assault, and the Mississippi Department of Corrections has placed a hold on him for probation violation.

In two other sexual assault cases:

• Judge Terrertt seat a bond of $100,000 for Charles McCray, 55, 1016 Urban Court, who is accused of statutory rape involving a 15-year-old girl.

According to police reports, the girl’s mother said McCray checked her daughter out of school without her knowledge and was believed to have had a sexual relationship with her. He was being held in the Warren County Jail.

• James Willie Ross Jr., 47, a registered sex offender, was being held without bond in the Warren County Jail on charges of two counts of sexual abuse and one count of statutory rape involving two children under the age of 12.

Canary Johnson, 36, a woman who is an acquaintance of Ross, is also being held without bond, charged with two counts being an accessory after the fact to sexual battery. She was arrested Jan. 5.

Ross turned himself in to investigator Stacy Rollinson about 8 a.m. Wednesday, ending a search for him that began Jan. 4 and included several Mississippi counties.

The arrests were result on an investigation after a tip that two children were being sexually abused at a home in Warren County.

In other cases:

• A Warren County man is charged with aggravated domestic violence in the beating of his wife, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Timothy Michael Noble, 38, was arrested Thursday after an investigation by deputies into the reported beating of a woman Wednesday. He was being held in the Warren Count Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.

Noble’s wife was taken to Merit Health River Region and then transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with severe head trauma.

• Vicksburg police arrested Joshua Dates, 30, 216 Hillside Drive, Thursday about 11:44 p.m. in the 1200 block of Cherry Street on a charge of possession of a stolen firearm.

• Power tools, a winch and 50-foot chain, and other equipment valued at $1,020 were reported taken Wednesday about 1:35 p.m. from a truck parked at Vicksburg Ford, 2431 North Frontage Road.

• Two china cabinets were reported taken in the reported break-in of the Centrex Storage Facility, 75 Centrex Drive.
