Former Vicksburg Mayor Demery Grubbs has joined the law firm of Butler Snow in Jackson as a senior government relations advisor in the firm’s public finance, tax incentives and credit markets group, and the firm’s regulatory and government relations group.
“Demery brings extensive government and public service experience to our public finance group,” said Donald Clark Jr., chairman of Butler Snow. “He will provide experienced counsel and vision to our clients as we continue to grow our public finance practice.”
Grubbs served as a Vicksburg Alderman in 1977 and was mayor from 1978 to 1988, when he left the city to work for the Mississippi Municipal League. Grubbs said he will be working with Butler Snow on a part-time basis as a government relations advisor on public finance issues, and working with bound counsels and government agencies across the state.
“It’s just one of those things,” he said of his new position. “I’ve got a flexible schedule, so with that I took the opportunity. I know all the people up there because I’ve been working with them all these years. ”
