SUSPECTED ILLEGAL ALIENS HELD BY CITY POLICE

Three people believed to be Mexican nationals were stopped on Interstate 20 Wednesday and found to be without proper federal work permits.

The three were arrested by Vicksburg police officers about 1 p.m. after the vehicle in which they were riding was stopped for a speeding violation in the westbound lanes of I-20 near Washington Street.

The three were identified in booking records at the Warren County Jail as Velasco Cruz, 25; Aracelia Cruz, 18, and Claudia Tecuapa, 31. None gave police an address.

They were being held until they can be turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
