SILAS T. HERN
UTICA Silas T. Hern died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at his home in Utica. He was 76.
Mr. Hern had been a resident of Utica for the past 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Faith Baptist Church in Utica.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Hancock Hern of Utica; two sons, James T. Hern of Green Bay, Wis., and Bobby L. Hern of Dover, Tenn.; two brothers, Clyde Hern of Holly Bluff and Harbert Hern of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Raymond United Methodist Church with Thomas Gorrell, a military chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in the Raymond Cemetery with Glenwood Funeral Home of Utica in charge. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and beginning at noon Monday at the church.
