PERCY BUCK

PORT GIBSON Services for Percy Buck will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Christian Chapel Church in Port Gibson with T.E. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Christian Church Cemetery in Pattison under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 2 p.m. until the service Saturday at the church.

Mr. Buck died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 50.

He was a member of King David Christian Church in Hermanville and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Johnson-Buck of Port Gibson; two sons, Percy Buck III of Port Gibson and Todrick Johnson of Tallahassee, Fla.; a daughter, Jasmine Parker of Port Gibson; three grandchildren and other relatives including Lorraine Buck of Port Gibson.

CHARLES ELLIS

HERMANVILLE Services for Charles Ellis will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Johnny Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.

Mr. Ellis died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 84.

He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Hermanville.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert Collier, Wess Ellis, Amos Ellis, James Ellis and Frank Ellis; and two sisters, Katherine Gray and Mable Lee Jackson.

He is survived by two sons, Charles Ellis of Marrero, La., and Robert Lee Ellis of Hermanville; a daughter, Mary Wilson of Harvey, La.; a sister, Ella Lee Phelps of Hermanville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.

VIRGINIA D. THURBER

Virginia D. Thurber died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Heritage House Nursing Center. She was 85.

Born in Humboldt, Tenn., Mrs. Thurber was the daughter of the late Emerson and Ocie McMinn Duffey. She was a graduate of Dodd College in Shreveport. She had lived in Jackson for 45 years where she was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. She was a life member of St. Dominic Hospital Auxiliary. She had lived in Vicksburg since 1989 and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Thurber Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Thurber Stapleton of Yorktown, Va., and Sara Thurber Wilkerson of Vicksburg; a son, George Thurber III of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
