Vicksburg firefighters spray water on the smoldering remains of a two-story home that burned to the ground on Bodley Street off Second North Street early Wednesday morning. No one was injured in the blaze. Battalion Chief John Wilkinson said the blaze was reported at 3:02 a.m., and when firefighters arrived 3 minutes later, the two-story wood house was engulfed in flames. Leslie Decareaux, fire prevention coordinator for VFD, said the house, whose owner had not been determined, was vacant and under construction. Firefighters continued to douse hot spots at the house at 9 Wednesday morning. The cause of the fire was under investigation. (The Vicksburg Post/MELANIE DUNCAN)
