JAMES CHARLES NORALS SR.

PORT GIBSON James Charles “Jim” Norals died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 68.

Mr. Norals is survived by Ruth “Baby Ruth” Johnson of Port Gibson; two sons, James Charles “Jimmy” Norals Jr. of Port Gibson and Craig Norals of Jackson; a daughter, Ann Norals of Port Gibson; three sisters, Annie C. King of Port Gibson, Belinda Coleman of Markham, Ill., and Classie B. Johnson of Pattison; three brothers, Jay Norals of Jackson, S.D. Norals of Greenwood and Merdis Gray of Wiggins; his adopted father, Fred O’Quin Sr. of Port Gibson; five adopted sisters, Ethel Jones, Annie Morgan and Ruby Turner, all of Port Gibson, Berdia O’Quin and Shirley McGradie, both of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three adopted brothers, Willie Robert O’Quin and Fred O’Quin Jr., both of Port Gibson, and Otis O’Quin of Brookhaven; three grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Claiborne County Civil Defense Building in Port Gibson with Robert Collier officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery in Russum.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home and from 1 p.m Sunday until the service at the Civil Defense Building.

JOHNNIE PATTERSON

Services for Johnnie Patterson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh M.B. Church with the Rev. Willie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Patterson died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 74.

Mr. Patterson served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired with the U.S. Government Mat Sinking Unit and was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Sparrow and Letitia Patterson.

He is survived by a daughter, Johnnie Mae Cox of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including H.R. Jackson of Vicksburg.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

DR. GORDON SANSING

MERIDIAN Dr. Gordon Sansing died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Riley Memorial Hospital in Meridian. He was 87.

Dr. Sansing served as a Baptist minister for 68 years. He was pastor of Canten Ridge Baptist Church. He was director of the senior adults and a staff consultant for Westwood Baptist Church. He was former chaplain and vice president of Civitan International and director of evangelism at the Mississippi Baptist Convention.

He is survived by his wife, Polly Sansing of Meridian; two sons, Tom O. Sansing of Collinsville and Dr. Gordon H. Sansing of Forest, formerly of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday at Webb Funeral Home in Meridian. Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

ELNORA TAYLOR

Elnora Taylor died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 63.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a seamstress and retired as a custodian from the Vicksburg Warren Schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Nora Taylor; a son, Danny Lee Taylor; and two brothers, Dan Pearson and Myles Lee Taylor.

Survivors include three sons, John Lee Taylor, Mack Charles Taylor and Nora Taylor, all of Vicksburg; three daughters, Mary Wilson, Louwanda Miles and Frankie Williams, all of Vicksburg; a brother, Willie Taylor of Vicksburg; four sisters, Lena Mae Taylor, Nellie Mae Taylor and Fannie B. Taylor, all of Vicksburg, and Callie Mae Taylor of Gary, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; stepchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Second Union Baptist Church cemetery in Utica.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service.
