OSCAR K. RUSHING
BLUE HILL Oscar K. Rushing died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Hospital in Jackson. He was 82.
Mr. Rushing was a native of Blue Hill. He served in the Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart award. He was a cattleman and a meter reader for Southwest E.P.A. for a number of years. He owned and operated Rushing Grocery until 1982. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 149 in Lorman and a member of Blue Hill Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lucretia West Rushing of Blue Hill; a son, Kirby R. Rushing of Blue Hill; three sisters, Jewel Morrison of Camden, Ark., and Mary Alice Norton and Frances Bemiss, both of Lorman.
Services were today at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Jefferson County.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Wiggins, Warren Shelton, Tommy Provance, Eddie Henry, Keith Stagg and Johnnie H. Smith.
