Artist Martha Ferris, on a ladder in the top photo, adds splashes of paint to the mural being painted on the floodwall at City Front Thursday. Ferris’ painting was chosen from 10 submitted by local and out-of-town artists to decorate the land side of the wall along Levee Street at the Yazoo Diversion Canal. Assisting Ferris with the city-and-state-financed $15,000 project are Synethia Kelly, below left, and Michael Woody, right. The artists have been working throughout the week to paint the mural, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of July. The mural will be 10 1/2 feet high and 57 feet wide.
