[05/24/01] Warren Central moved up to No. 6 in USA Today’s Super 25 poll, which was released Tuesday.

It’s the highest national ranking in school history for the Vikings, who swept four straight postseason series and won their first Class 5A state championship.

They finished 36-3 and ranked No. 1 in The Clarion-Ledger.

Four of the teams ahead of them in USA Today’s poll are still playing. Bellaire, Texas is No. 1. The Vikings were No. 9 in the previous poll.

WC is No. 2 in its South rankings. The paper updates its polls every two weeks.
