ABE E. ABRAHAM
Abe E. Abraham died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. He was 82.
A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Abraham was the son of the late Elias and Helen Abraham. He had been employed with Atwood Chevy Olds and the Car Store for many years. He was a member of the Army-Navy Club, the Order of St. Ignatius and St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Farris Abraham; two sisters, Mary Mack and Minnie Nader; and two brothers, Waddy Abraham and Spero Abraham.
He is survived by five daughters, Joylene Carlson, Mary Jo Wright, Gloria Dornbusch and Helen Abraham, all of Vicksburg, and Lillian Mackay of Lexington, S.C.; his sister, Lillie Abraham of Vicksburg; his brother, George E. Abraham of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren, Angela Wright, Claire Dornbusch, Jake Dornbusch, Matt Carlson and Beth Carlson, all of Vicksburg, and Don Mackay and Will Mackay, both of Lexington, S.C.; and other relatives.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Rev. Peter Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home. Trisagion Prayers will be at 4:30.
Pallbearers will be Dr. George E. Abraham II, Trey Abraham, James Hughes, Dr. Thomas Strain, Robert Nader, Abe Lee Nader, Dr. Bobby M. Abraham, Jea Abraham, Dr. Donald Mack, Dr. Billy Gilley, Keith Collins, Michael Nader, Dr. Michael Abraham, David Hughes, Dr. Thomas Huff, Dr. John Attrep and William Abraham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Dawsey, Craig Gibson, Oscar LaBarre, Emmett Atwood, Ralph Morgan, employees of Atwood Chevy Olds and the Car Store, the men of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church choir and the Army Navy club.
WALLACE LEWIS ROBINSON BYRD
ROXIE Wallace Lewis Robinson Byrd died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at his home in Roxie. He was 49.
Mr. Byrd was born in Franklin County and worked for Ricky L. Blanton Construction. He was a member of Roxie First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Byrd Jr. and Curley Mae Robinson.
Survivors include two brothers, Roger Byrd and Kenneth Byrd, both of Roxie; four sisters, Phyllis Byrd and Erica Byrd, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Betty Malone and Joyce Malone, both of Natchez; aunts; an uncle; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roxie First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in Roxie.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.
Pallbearers will be Edward Dixon, Roger Byrd, Kenneth Byrd, Percy Byrd, Carl Williams and Ronnie Williams.
WILLIAM H. KELLY
William H. Kelly died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 84.
Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Kelly and Johnny C. Wells, and his parents, William H. Kelly and Jane Curry Kelly.
He is survived by his wife, Lizzie Kelly of Los Angeles; nine sons, Danny Kelly, Willie Wells and Jessie Wells, all of Jackson, Elvin Kelly of Vicksburg, William Kelly of Hermanville, Bennie Wells of Columbus, Carl Kelly of Chicago, George Kelly of Los Angeles and Ernest Kelly of Crestwood, Ill.; four daughters, Josie Anderson of Los Angeles, Ann Kelly of Harvey, Ill., Sarah Kelly of Homewood, Ill., and Joyce Kelly of Chicago; two sisters, Susie Mays of Country Club Hills, Ill., and Annie Bell of Port Gibson; 27 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ashland M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. James Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
ERNEST J. VOLK JR.
Ernest J. Volk Jr. died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 79.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Volk was a member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the Army. He retired from the Air Force as a sergeant major.
He worked as medical records administrator at Vicksburg Hospital, retiring after 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest J. and Mamie Feldman Volk, and his wife, Frances Volk.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Laura Volk of Vicksburg, and a granddaughter, Allison Denise Volk of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Rosenkranz officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Fred Messina, John Daniel, Greg Moseley, Dan Harmon, William Ray and Bill Ray.

ROSIE LEE WILLIAMS
PORT GIBSON Rosie Lee Williams died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at University Medical Center. She was 45.
A resident of Port Gibson, Miss Williams was a member of St. Mark M.B. Church where she sang in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis “Bo” Williams; and her mother Annie Lue Trevillion, Survivors include her son, Rufus Lamar Williams of Port Gibson; three daughters, Tina Lawauna Williams, Toffe Laton Williams and Tracy Leann Williams, all of Port Gibson; two brothers, Melvin James Williams of Port Gibson and Bobby Tinner of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Mary Lou McGowan, Nancy Williams and Deedra Williams, all of Port Gibson; her stepmother, Vivian Williams of Port Gibson; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. mark M.B. church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Macaa Cemetery in Russum.
Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. today at Rollins Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
