MARY EVELYN BROWN

Services for Mary Evelyn Brown will be at 2 p.m. today at Good Hope Cemetery in Magee. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at her daughter’s home in Vicksburg. She was 65.

A native of Sunflower County, she had lived in Magee for 26 years. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Brown; her father, Teate Nathaniel Wilkerson; a grandson, Bobby Shiers; and two brothers, Charles Wilkerson and Skippy Wilkerson.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Wade of Athens, Texas, and Thomas Earl Wade of Vicksburg; three daughters, Mary Burleson and Margaret Ann Botsford, both of Vicksburg, and Barbara Nell Henderson of DeQuincy, La.; her mother, Claudis Ann Brown of Vicksburg; her brother, James Howard Wilkerson of Dallas; two sisters, Earline Halterman and Janie Wilkerson Johnson, both of Vicksburg; three stepdaughters, Mitzi Brown of Covington, La., Peggy Parrish of Magee and Willdean Steadham of Brandon; and 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Wade, Thomas Wade, Thomas Wade Jr., Travis Wade, Scottie Shiers, Ronnie Carter, Jesse Cole and Donald Carter.

BURDEEN KINNEBREW ELLIS

PORT GIBSON Burdeen Kinnebrew Ellis died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Hospice Ministries in Jackson. She was 85.

Born in McComb, Mrs. Ellis was a lifelong resident of Port Gibson. She graduated from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University and taught school in Claiborne County. She also owned Abe’s Betty Jean Department Store. She was a member of Port Gibson United Methodist Church, Mosswood Country Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Louis N. Ellis of Port Gibson; three daughters, Sharon Ellis Gorman of Greenville, Texas, Susanne Ellis Middleton of Jackson and Sonya Ellis Nutt of Clinton; her sister, Nell Kinnebrew Smith of Amite, La.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at WinterGreen Cemetery in Port Gibson with the Revs. Mark Duncan and David Harrison officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Greenlee, Dr. Michael Ellis, Robert Gage, Charles Greenlee, Dr. E.G. Ellis Jr. and Mac Drake.

HARVEY L. HEARN SR.

Harvey L. “Buddy” Hearn Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 78.

A lifelong resident of Warren County, Mr. Hearn had been employed with Blackburn Motor Co. He retired in 1988 after 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served during World War II where he was an aviation machinist’s mate. He was a member of Vicksburg Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Louise Hearn of Vicksburg; his son, Harvey L. Hearn Jr. of Nashville; his brother, Jack Hearn of Vicksburg; his sister, Flora Bell Hearn of Oxford; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Tony Lalli officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery,

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Hearn, Mark Green, Calvin Hearn, Dean Hearn, Robert Hall, Wayne Neuroth, Richard Kette and Chris Nevels.

WILLIAM l. McINNIS

William L. McInnis died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 87.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. McInnis was the son of the late William Luther and Annie Louise Hazzard McInnis. He was a 1934 graduate of Mississippi A&M College with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He was a veteran of World War II having served in Oxford England with Army Intelligence. He was discharged from the Army Reserves as a lieutenant colonel after 20 years of service. He began working for the Corps of Engineers in 1934 and resumed his career after the war. He retired in 1978 as division chief of the Expedient Surfaces Division. He was a charter member of the YMCA where he played volleyball for more than 55 years and a former member of the Shriners. He was also a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two nephews, Mike McInnis of Olive Branch and Kevin McInnis of Houston, Texas; a cousin, J.H. McInnis Jr. of Durango, Colo.; a great-niece, Tara Krivoski of Portland, Ore.; a great-nephew, Jack Payton McInnis of Houston, Texas; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Geoffery Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Walter May, Joe Tuccio, Will Dornbusch, Sid Tucker, Hugh Green and Bert Hamill.

Honorary pallbearers will be volleyball buddies at the YMCA.

MALVERN SMALLWOOD SR.

DELTA Malvern Smallwood Sr. died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 83.

A native of Pawtucket, R.I., Mr. Smallwood served in the Navy Seabees during World War II. He was employed by Boston Navel Shipyards as a metalurgist. He lived in Malden, Mass., for several years before moving to Delta.

He is survived by two sons, Malvern Smallwood Jr. of Saugus, Mass., and John Smallwood of Las Vegas; four daughters, Debbie Smallwood and Melanie Smallwood, both of Malden, Diane Smallwood of Melrose, Mass., and Marge Rozinski of Plymouth, Mass.; his brother, Albert Smallwood of Pawtucket; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick McAlister officiating. Burial will be at Natchez National Cemetery.
