[01/11/02]Michael Head scored on two penalty kicks to lead St. Aloysius to a 4-1 division win at Madison-St. Joe Thursday night.
The Flashes’ 10th win avenged an earlier 3-2 loss to the Bruins. St. Al now leads the division.
“We were fired up, hungry and we knew we had to win,” St. Al coach Shirley Agostinelli said.
“The defense played exceptionally well,” she said, singling out Greg Smith, Vincent Banchetti, Michael Engle, Blake Warnock and Strickland. “I can’t compliment them enough.”
John Theobald and Michael Strickland added goals for St. Al (10-2, 3-1 division), which led 3-0 at the half.
Goalkeeper Andy Gough, in his first game back after a knee injury, had to leave after being kicked in the jaw in the second half.
“It was a very physical game,” she said, adding that there were several yellow cards on both sides. “There was a lot of frustration.”
St. Al outshot the Bruins, 19-8.
