MAUD S. HARGE

Maud S. Harge died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 99.

Born in Valley Park, Mrs. Harge was a member of Rock of Ages M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Harge; a son, Lonnie Harge; three brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her son, Joe Harge of Savannah, Ga.; her granddaughter, Stephanie Stewart of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Tammy Wilson of Jacksonville, Fla., LaTonya Blalock of Columbus, Ga., and Shirley Peaches, Willie Lee Bailey and Katheryn Brown, all of Vicksburg.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

HATTIE JAMES HAYNES

Hattie James Haynes died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 62.

Mrs. Haynes was a member of St. Luke Freewill Baptist Church, and a member of the Willing Workers Club of the Kings community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Silas James Sr. and Fannie Lumpkin James.

She is survived by two sons, Johnny Lee James and Calvin White, both of Vicksburg; her daughter, Juliet James Maxey of Vicksburg; two brothers, the Rev. Silas James Jr. of Chicago and the Rev. Willie Lee James Sr. of Vicksburg; her sister, Rosie Lee James Versell of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and other relatives, including Johnnie D. Flaggs of Vicksburg.

Williams Funeral service has charge of the arrangements.

URA A. HERROD

Services for Ura A. Herrod will be at noon Friday at Easton Cemetery in Easton, Kan. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Mrs. Herrod died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 79.

Born in Leavenworth, Kan., she was the daughter of the late John B. and Pearl Martin Hedges. She was a manager with United Dollar Store and General Dollar Store for more than 27 years. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star and Vicksburg Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Herrod.

She is survived by her son, John B. Herrod of Vicksburg; and two cousins, Helen Edmonds and Nellie Martin LaMont, both of Easton, Kan.

Memorials may be made to Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Center in Greenville.

LILLIAN HUSBANDS

Lillian Husbands died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 86.

Born in Vicksburg, Miss Husbands retired as a cosmetologist for Estee Lauder Co. She was a member of First Christian Church of Vicksburg.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, W.J. and Thelma Husbands of Vicksburg; and two nieces, Jeri Gartman of Vicksburg and Christi Gaddis of Jackson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Hancell Bankester officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the service at the funeral home.

HERBERT D. KREITZ

Herbert “Bubba” D. Kreitz died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002. He was 80.

A native of Houston, Texas, Mr. Kreitz had lived in Vicksburg for the last nine years. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star while serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Southline Pipe Co.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Lois Stringer Kreitz; his brother, Albert Kreitz; and a sister, Geraldine Dagley.

He is survived by his stepson, Paul Pettway of Buna, Texas; his sister, Maxine Lamb of Houston; three grandchildren, Evelyn Marie Hartley, Paula Hunt and Charles Pettway, all of Vicksburg; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston. Burial will follow under the direction of Earthman’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home in Houston.
