ROSA LEE CARTER

Rosa Lee “Wee Wee” Carter died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. She was 74.

Mrs. Carter was retired from Wal-Mart. She was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church where she served on the Mother Board and was a former member of the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Annie Martin and Cora Bell McKeel and Fred Carter Sr.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Carter and Leon Carter, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Beverly Carter Boyd of Huntsville, Ala., and Terry Haynes of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; nine brothers, the Rev. Earl Cosey, the Rev. Erwin Cosey, Fred Carter Jr., Bobby Carter, Sherman Carter and Tony Carter, all of Vicksburg, Otis Cosey and Andrew Cosey, both of Dowagiac, Mich., and Robert Cosey of Natchez; six sisters, May Bell Hill and Agnes Bacon, both of Dowagiac, Dorothy Avance of South Bend, Ind., Terry Moore of Vicksburg, Yvonne Tribble of Chicago, Louise Jones of South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Lora Vell Topps of St. Louis.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

MILDRED ELAM

PATTISON Mildred Elam died Monday, June 24, 2002, at her home in Pattison. She was 78.

Mrs. Elam was a longtime resident of Pascagoula, where she retired from Sears.

She is survived by two sons, Gayle Elam of Pattison and Terry Elam of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; her daughter, Bonnie Broadway of Pascagoula; two brothers, Alex M. Thompson Jr. of Montgomery, Ala., and Woody L. Thompson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Quitman. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

SALLY ROSE WITTMAYER

MEMPHIS Sally Rose Wittmayer died Thursday, June 20, 2002, in Memphis. She was 63.

Mrs. Wittmayer was a former resident of Vicksburg.

She is survived by her husband, Lorence A. Wittmayer; four daughters, Heidi Wittmayer of Birmingham, Ala., Holly Adcock of Madison, and Amy Thigpen and Wendy Sala, both of Memphis; three sisters; three brothers; and five grandchildren.

Services were Saturday at St. Henry’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Charley Giacosa officiating. Burial followed at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens under the direction of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
