DONALD EARL ALLEN SR.

BUFFALO, N.Y. Donald Earl Allen Sr. died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Sisters Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y. He was 70.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Florence Burks Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline Butler Allen of Buffalo; a son, Donald Allen Jr. of Buffalo; a daughter, Vernita Allen Hunter of Atlanta; three sisters, Alma M. Russell of Natchez, Anita Allen-Jackson of Chicago and E. Commile Carter of Los Angeles; two grandchildren; and other relatives, including members of the Allen and Burks families of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Buffalo. Burial will follow in Buffalo.

Visitation will be from 1 until 9 p.m. Friday at Providence Funeral Home in Buffalo.

KENNETH E. GALTNEY

Services for Kenneth E. “Lit Buddy” Galtney will be at noon Thursday at Bethlehem M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.

Mr. Galtney died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 73.

Mr. Galtney was a self-employed truck driver and member of Ebenezer M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb Galtney and Cora A. Galtney; a son, Charles Tillman; and a brother, Caleb Galtney Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth E. Galtney of Chicago and Lee Melvin Coleman of Saginaw, Mich.; six daughters, Brenda Yarborough of Chicago, Clarice Brown of Atlanta, Emma Somlar of Bloomington, Ill., Mary Galtney, Cora White and Carolyn Butler, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Emma Smith of Red Lick; and 17 grandchildren and friends and relatives including two aunts, Mary Taylor of Vicksburg and Olivia Pearl Smith of Port Gibson.

WILLIAM CLARENCE TAYLOR

YAZOO CITY William Clarence Taylor died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 85.

Mr. Taylor was born in Kelsey, Texas, to Ivy H. and Walter Clarence Taylor. He lived in Arizona for 12 years before returning to Yazoo County. He worked for Southland Oil Co. and later worked as an independent petroleum jobber until he retired. He then raised and sold cattle for a number of years.

He was a member of the Clinton Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was preceded in death by a son, Alton Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Galloway Taylor; two sons, James Taylor and Perry Taylor; a sister, Edith Norris of Newport, Wash.; and 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Red Star Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Cemetery near Brookhaven.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

WILLIAM STEVEN HALEY

OAK GROVE William Steven “Koosie” Haley died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital. He was 42.

Mr. Haley was born in Delhi.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Doss Haley of Oak Grove; his father, William Darvis “Sonny” Haley of Kilbourne, La.; his mother, Murrel Dean Haley of Kilbourne; a sister, Vickie Pullin of Kilbourne; two stepsisters, Susan Hodgkins of Kilbourne and Dana Krepick of El Dorado, Ark.; three stepbrothers, Eddie Hodgkins and Kenneth Hodgkins, both of Kilbourne, and Darren Sims of Texarkana, Ark.; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Dwight Wilson and Gary Traylor officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Marty Haley, Reece Traylor, Rex Calhoun, David Ratcliff, Rex Oliver and James Chavers.

MARY DEE HANES HUNTER

DALLAS, Texas Mary Dee Hanes Hunter died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002. She was 89.

She was a native of Vicksburg, a former resident of Waco, Texas, and a homemaker.

Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Thomas B. Butler.

Survivors include her daughter, Missy Easterwood of Coppell, Texas; her son, Fred Hunter of Kansas City, Mo., her brother, Francis Hanes of Mississippi; her granddaughter, Reagan Rea McWhorter of Arlington, Texas; and her grandson, Nathan Hunter of Kansas City, Mo.

Services will be today at 1:45 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, under the direction of Dalton and Son Funeral Home of Lewisville, Texas.
