Time for tipoff

[11/13/02]With football playoffs in full swing, it means that action on the hardwood is near.

Porters Chapel Academy already started the season with a 5-2 record, and St. Aloysius lost its opener to Riverside Tuesday.

Vicksburg and Warren Central will host the Coca-Cola Classic starting today.

Warren Central’s girls lost four starters from last season and will rely on sophomore Cookie Johnson.

Vicksburg has three starters back and will also get Shalonda Williams back for her senior season. Williams tore her ACL last year and missed the entire season.

At Porters Chapel, the combination of Brittany White and Brady Willis have the Lady Eagles off to a strong start.

St. Aloysius coach Paul Hayden is looking to improve on last year as his team tries to advance out of divison play in his third season.

Basketball season ends in March with the state tournaments in Jackson.
