Gators win first powerlifting meet

[2/1/04]Led by four first-place finishes, the Vicksburg boys powerlifting team scored a 54 to beat a field of six other teams at the Vicksburg Invitational.

Natchez placed second with 47 points, followed by Port Gibson (41), Madison Central (24), Gentry (16), Warren Central (13) and Clinton (12).

First-place finishes for Vicksburg were: Qinnard Wilson (123-pound class), Marcus Stokes (198), Casey Younger (242) and Fred Kelly (super-heavyweight).

Second-place finishes included Cordarryl Gleese (132) and Roderick Erves (308).

Placing third for the Gators were Anthony Cleveland (132), Keithon Burnette (275) and Detrick Johnson (308).

Vivian Smith placed fourth in the 123-pound class in the Missy Gators’ inaugural meet.
