HERMANVILLE Willie Lee Smith died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 55.

Born in Utica, Mr. Smith was a resident of Hermanville. He was a farmer and a member of Mountro Grove M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Smith Sr.; his mother, Johnnie Ruth Smith; two brothers, Mac Arthur Smith and Johnny Andrew Smith; and a sister, Ethel Lee Dixon.

Survivors include a daughter, Schevelle L. Micken of Detroit, Mich.; five brothers, John Wesley White and George Smith, both of Hermanville, Donald Smith of Port Gibson, John Henry White of Detroit and Ervin Smith of Belle Chasse, La.; two sisters, Erline Bradly of Marrero, La., and Pattye Smith of Hermanville; aunts and uncles; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mountro Grove M.B. Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Horace McBride officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Eddie Washington Sr.

FAYETTE Eddie “Rabbit” Washington Sr. died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Claiborne County Hospital. He was 56.

A resident of Fayette, Mr. Washington was a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Mae Anderson Washington of Fayette; five daughters, Gwen Williams of Vicksburg, Shalonda Anderson and Narshunda Anderson, both of Starkville, Lovmetrica Anderson of Natchez and Gina Campbell of Niagra Falls, N.Y.; four sons, Eddie Washington Jr. of Edwards, George Washington and Stacy Ferguson, both of Vicksburg, and Benjamin Williams of Zephyrhills, Fla.; four sisters, Daisy Smith, Ethel White, Mary H. Carson and Catherine Adams, all of Vicksburg; a brother, Wilbour Washington of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including the Freeman, Lyons, Gaskins, Buck, Griffin and Wilson families.

Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette has charge of arrangements.

Bertha Sampson Williams

Services for Bertha Sampson Williams will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jackson Street M.B. Church with the Rev. John Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mrs. Williams died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 99.

A homemaker, she was a member of Jackson Street M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Williams; two daughters, Lucinda Williams and Myrtle L. Albert; her parents, Ben and Martha Sampson; a brother, George Bennett; and a sister, Louise Bennett.

Survivors include a son, Edward Morris of Chicago; two daughters, Diana Calmese of Oakland, Calif., and Johnnie Cogwell of Mount Clemens, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and others, including Ria D. Williams of Vicksburg.

Herman Wilson

TALLULAH Herman Wilson died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. He was 94.

Born in Franklin County, Mr. Wilson had lived in Madison Parish for the past 59 years. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church in Tallulah.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Julia Stephens Wilson of Tallulah; two sons, Billy Ray Wilson of Vicksburg and Jerry Wayne Wilson of Tallulah; a daughter, Juanita Faye Starnes of Augusta, Ga.; three half-brothers, John Wilson of Newellton, Jimmy Wilson of Orlando, Fla., and Jerry Wilson of Ocean Springs; two half-sisters, Cathy Gandy of Bastrop, La., and Charlotte Gray of Ocean Springs; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lee Gunn, Don Trichell, Lloyd Rogan Jr., Rudolph Hernandez, Tully Wilson and Ray Wilson.

Barbara A. Wright

Barbara A. Wright died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at her home. She was 60.

A resident of Vicksburg, Miss Wright was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Shelby Wright; and a brother, Judge Wright.

Survivors include her mother, Roberta Wright of Vicksburg; four sisters, Rose Ann Wright of Aurora, Ill., Shappy Wright and Roberta Polk, both of Vicksburg, and Rochella Louis of Victorville, Calif.; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
