Patricia Ann Bean

Patricia Ann Bean died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 58.

Born in Greenville, Mrs. Bean was reared in Leland. She had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1973. She attended Bovina Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Bean.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Lee Bean Jr. of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Stacey Leigh Cook and Heather Dianne Satcher, both of Vicksburg; her parents, Alvie L. and M.L. Zeigler of Leland; two brothers, Al Zeigler and Stephen Zeigler, both of Leland; and her grandmother, M.L. Gower of Leland.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Stoneville Cemetery in Stoneville with Dr. Chip Starnes officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mack Gower, John Read, Charles Henderson, William Ray, Lee Brackeen Jr. and Matt Gower.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Frank James Braboy

Services for Frank James Braboy will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at King David M.B. Church No. 1. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday with family hour at 7 at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Braboy died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 89.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Braboy was a member of King David M.B. No. 1 Church, where he was a former member of the usher board. He was an Army veteran, having served in World War II, and a member of American Legion Tyner-Ford Post 213. He was retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles W. Hamberlin; his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Braboy; and a sister, Rosetta Braboy Turner.

Survivors include his wife, Josie Sims Braboy of Vicksburg; two daughters, Shuntele Andrews of Murrieta, Calif., and Glorietta Crawford of Los Angeles; a brother, Robel Howard of New Orleans; two sisters, Katie Braboy Manadier and Minnie Braboy Sherman, both of Chicago; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including James Kline of Chicago and Willie Prentiss of Vicksburg.

Lena Faye Butler

OAK GROVE Lena Faye Butler died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was 63.

A homemaker, Mrs. Butler was born in West Carroll Parish. She was a resident of Oak Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Tim Butler Jr.; and her parents, Louie Herbert and Mamye Lou Pennington.

Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Agan of Monroe and Deborah Yates of Pioneer; two brothers, Donald Pennington and Royce Pennington, both of Oak Grove; two sisters, Robbie Pennington of Monroe and Louise Taylor of Oak Grove; two granddaughters; and other relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Home with J.C. Oser and David Shiers officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Spann, Fred Nerio, Harold Tucker, Joe Whatley, Larry Spann and Ray Rouse.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Thrush and Bruce Walker.

James McNair

Services for James McNair will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. McNair died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 63.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert McNair Sr.; and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Fannie Norfort McNair of Vicksburg; his mother, Marie Sutton of Vicksburg; six daughters, Janice Woodson, Erma Woodson, Charlene Davis, Bridgette Norfort, Jennifer Norfort and Courtney Norfort, all of Vicksburg; three sons, Jason Norfort, Ellis Brown and Tyrone Davis, all of Vicksburg; three brothers, Ledale Thompson of Vicksburg, Robert McNair Jr. of Pattison and Felix Jackson of Biloxi; two sisters, Effie Harris of Buffalo, N.Y., and Lucille Fells of Lorman; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Johnny W. Ponder Sr.

Johnny W. Ponder Sr. died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 64.

Mr. Ponder was born in Vicksburg to the late Lawrence Marvin and Lola Mae Middleton Ponder. A graduate of Redwood High School, he was employed by the Vicksburg Bridge Commission for 27 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by one daughter, Alicia J. Brooks of Vicksburg; one son, Johnny W. Ponder II of Vicksburg; two brothers, James Ponder of Texas and Marvin Ponder of Clinton; two sisters, Barbara Ponder Kitchens of Clinton and Deborah Ponder Harrigill of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon until the service Friday.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Bailey, Jonathan Ponder, Keith Wooten, Donald Woodard, John Boler and John Palmer Shiers.

Alma Blanche Terry

Services for Alma Blanche Terry will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor of St. Michael, and the Rev. Patrick Farrell, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Fisher Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home with a Christian religious service at 7.

Mrs. Terry worked at the Old Court House Museum for 35 years, starting when the founder, Eva W. Davis, was still active. She retired in 2003.

She was a native of Vicksburg and attended St. Francis Xavier Academy. She attended both St. Paul and St. Michael Catholic churches in Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ray Terry Sr.

She is survived by two sons, J. Ray Terry Jr. of Memphis and James L. Terry of Jackson; a daughter, Dr. Ginny Terry Raymond of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Fred Holmes, Gordon Cotton, Hobbs Freeman, Charlie Mitchell, Joe Loviza, Robert Walker, Bobby Gardner and Charlie Gholson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Vicksburg and Warren County Historical Society.
