W.B. Holder

JACKSON W.B. “Bill” Holder died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. He was 82.

Born in Wisner, La., Mr. Holder had lived in Jackson since 1959. He was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church and the Masonic Order. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and retired from McCarty Holman after 28 years of service as a buyer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Holder; his parents, Frank and Nettie Holder; a brother, Jessie Holder; and three sisters, Myrtle Holloway, Lou Holler and Clara Holder.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Holder of Biloxi; three sons, Danny Holder of Brandon, Roger Holder of Baton Rouge and Billy Holder of Vicksburg; two sisters, Pat Bird of Austin, Texas, and Chris Strong of Tallulah; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial followed at Lakewood Memorial Park South.

Victoria Newman

Victoria Newman died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 101.

Miss Newman was a member and mother of King David No. 1 M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benny and Loretta Bell Newman; a brother, William McKinley Newman; and a sister, Gertrude Newman Moore.

Survivors include a nephew, James William Newman Sr. of Detroit, Mich.; a niece, Cariene Moore of Washington, D.C.; Bessie Mae Dillard Funchess; and cousins and other relatives.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Helen White

Helen White died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

Miss White was a resident of Vicksburg. She was retired from the Vicksburg Hospital and was a member of Jackson Street M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Gibbs; and a son, Matthew White.

Survivors include three sons, Alfred White of Jackson, Anderson White of Vicksburg and Ronnie White of Richland; three daughters, Addie Mae Brown of Chicago, Alfreda White of Vicksburg and Connie White of Washington; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
