Ricky D. Higdon

DELHI Ricky D. Higdon died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 48.

Born in Monroe, Mr. Higdon was a resident of Delhi.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Jean Higdon.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen “Sissy” Higdon; a daughter, Sydney Danielle Higdon of Monroe; his father and stepmother, Tracy and Ethel Higdon of Delhi; one brother, Donald Higdon of Monroe; his grandmother, Clemmie Chauncy of Delhi; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Revs. Bobby White and Greg Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Lamar Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Chapman, Charles Pepper, Allen Ogden, Sam Washington, Corbet McMillian and Ricky McMullen.

Charlene Fallin Wright Knox

JACKSON Charlene Fallin Wright Knox, formerly of Vicksburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 87.

A native of Jackson, Mrs. Knox attended Jackson Public Schools and Millsaps College. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and was a former Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

She was a member of the Margaret Hederman Circle, Monday Club, Debutante Mothers Club and Town Club.

Mrs. Knox was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. and Lois Fallin; her husbands, Charles G. Wright and Dr. I. Cecil Knox Jr.; and a stepdaughter, Mary Lou Knox.

She is survived by a daughter, Charlene Wright Dennen; a son, Charles A. “Tony” Wright; two stepsons, Ike Knox and Richard Knox; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Jackson under the direction of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

KyongIm Lee

KyongIm Lee died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at her home in Natchez. She was 71.

Mrs. Lee was a native of South Korea. In 1970, she moved to Vicksburg, where she opened Lee’s Children’s Store with her husband. She had been a Natchez resident since 1973, operating The Wig Center with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Holim Lee of Natchez; a son, Kyetlan Lee of New Orleans; two daughters, MiHyang Faulks of Vicksburg and Miron Salvador of Houston, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Sungho Jo and Geoffrey Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be members of the Korean-American Church.

Genevieve McManus Mallery

Genevieve McManus “Tot” Mallery died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Poydras Home for Elderly Ladies in New Orleans. She was 87.

Born in Bude, Mrs. Mallery moved to Vicksburg in 1938 and had lived in New Orleans since 2000. She was a homemaker and a member of Clear Creek Ladies’ Golf Association, winning a number of golf tournaments.

She served as an officer of the Engineers’ Club Auxiliary, volunteered with the Mercy Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and attended St. Stephen Anglican Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Proby and Florence Temple McManus; her husband, William Henry Mallery Jr.; her son, William Henry Mallery III; and two sisters, Albertine Templeton and Lorraine Streltzoff.

Mrs. Mallery is survived by six grandchildren, William David Mallery of Starkville, John Paul Mallery of Tibbee, Miss., Mark Nolan Mallery of New Orleans, Kathleen Mallery Schober of Memphis, William Henry Mallery IV of Cleveland, Ohio, and Elizabeth Ashley Mallery of Orlando, Fla.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Dunston officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

John Austin McBroom Sr.

John Austin McBroom Sr. died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 74.

Mr. McBroom was a native of Phoenix, Miss., and had lived in Vicksburg for 60 years. He worked for Anderson-Tully Co. for 30 years as a sawyer. He was of the Baptist faith.

He served in the Army and was a decorated veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert McBroom; a brother, George Allen McBroom; and two sisters, Mary Stewart and Janie McBroom.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Roberts McBroom of Vicksburg; one daughter, Dotty Wade of Vicksburg; one son, John McBroom Jr. of Vicksburg; his mother, Cathleen McBroom of Vicksburg; two brothers, Hubert Ray McBroom of Cary and Cecil Mack McBroom of Paducah, Ky.; two sisters, Lena Watkins of Vicksburg and Sherry Meacham of Knoxville, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Marr, pastor of Eastpoint Church in Olive Branch, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Pennington, Vick Simmons, Calvin Hearn, Robert Sibley, Bill Downey and Brad Carlisle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Ross, Dr. Daniel Edney, Kirk Hunter, Becky Caruthers, Theresa Holman, Whitney Doiron, Perry Young, David Baggett and Karen Ellison.
