Corine Thelma McGraw Carr

Services for Corine Thelma McGraw Carr will be at noon Wednesday at St. Mary’s Center with the Rev. Casey Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Carr died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at her home. She was 85.

Mrs. Carr was retired from Knapp’s Bakery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Carr Sr.; her parents, Alex and Lubertha McGraw; four brothers, William McGraw, Leon McGraw, Alex McGraw Jr. and Clifford McGraw; three sisters, Bernice Smith, Josephine Bullock and Ernestine Ferguson; a son, Clifton Carr; and two grandchildren, Terrence Taylor and Julia Wince.

Survivors include three sons, Leon Carr Jr. and George Carr, both of Vicksburg, and Dale Carr of Hazlehurst; six daughters, Deloris Sims, Brenda Townsend, Eleanor Coleman and Jacqueline Latham, all of Vicksburg, Gloria Taylor of New Orleans and Shirley Green of Plainfield, N.J.; 45 grandchildren, including Gail Martin and Latasha Carr, whom she reared; 93 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including members of the McGraw, Martin, Darden, Naylor and Dillon families.

John Robert Gayle

TALLULAH Services for John Robert Gayle will be at 2 p.m. today at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Cletus Moak officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.

Mr. Gayle died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at his home in Tallulah. He was 62.

He was born in St. Joseph and was a graduate of Tallulah High School. A truck driver, he was also employed in construction and served six years in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Heinrick and Martha Coates Gayle; a brother, Kenneth Gayle; and a sister, Beatrice G. Bernard.

He is survived by two brothers, Steve Gayle and Frank Gayle, both of Tallulah; a sister, Sandra Herman of Tallulah; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Frankie Gayle, Gideon Gayle, Kenneth Gayle Jr., Stan Morgan, Alvin Sullivan and Joey Sullivan.

Steven Bernard Miller

Steven Bernard Miller died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 58.

Mr. Miller was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and lived most of his life in Vicksburg. He was a construction worker.

He is survived by four sons, Steven D. Miller of Maryville, Tenn., and Joseph Miller, Daniel Lewis Miller and Andrew Mitchell, all of Vicksburg; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn of Vicksburg; three brothers, Timothy John Miller of Cleveland, Ohio, Walter Robert Miller of Alcoa, Tenn., and John William Kakins of Maryville; and 13 grandchildren.

A memorial service was at 10:30 a.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Marjorie Scott Walley

Marjorie Scott Walley died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.

Born in Greenville, Mrs. Walley had been a Vicksburg resident most of her life. She attended St. Francis Xavier Academy and was a former employee of Westinghouse.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph B. Sr. and Annie Lane Scott; her husband, D.W. “York” Walley Sr.; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Walley.

Survivors include two sons, David W. Walley Jr. of Lawton, Okla., and Donald Keith Walley of Gales Ferry, Conn.; two sisters, JoAnn S. Knight of Brandon, Fla., and Belle S. Lauret of Baton Rouge; a brother, Joseph B. Scott Jr. of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren.

Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
