Lela Couch Phillips

ROLLING FORK — Lela Couch Phillips died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at her home in Rolling Fork. She was 85.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Winfield, Ala., and had been a resident of Rolling Fork most of her life. She was a case worker for Sharkey County Human Services and had worked as a clerk for Sharkey County Chancery Court and Circuit Court in Rolling Fork. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Anguilla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel W. and Velma Bently Couch; two brothers, Sammie Lee Couch and Auther Houston Couch; and two sisters, Mary Brown and Mamie Singleton.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Vernon Lee Phillips of Rolling Fork; two sons, Donald Ray Phillips and David Lee Phillips, both of Rolling Fork; one brother, Edwin Couch of Nashville; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Earl Reyer officiating. Burial will follow at Golden Link Cemetery in Anguilla. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Couch, Mike Couch, Dave Albert, Gary Barnett, Donovan Phillips and Donald Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tristan Freeman, Noah Albert, Zane Freeman and Larry Adams.
