Shorter drove north on Mission 66, west on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and back east on First East Street before abandoning his vehicle at First East and Fourth North streets, Stewart said.

After a foot chase, Jones arrested Shorter at Main and First North, Stewart said. No other charges were filed, and it was unclear why Shorter was fleeing, Stewart said.

Shorter was held without bail this morning awaiting his initial court appearance.
