Johnnie Kearney Ables

Johnnie Kearney Ables died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at her home. She was 93.

Mrs. Ables was a native of Spanish Fort, Miss., and had lived in the community since 1936 and was a homemaker. She was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years. She was a member of Warren County Extension Services and Evergreen Garden Club. She loved and enjoyed oil painting, gardening and arts and crafts. She was loved by her family and friends. She was a witness for her Lord at home and everywhere she went, and she was loved everywhere she went.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Chris Ables; her parents, Joseph and Rhoda Kearney; a brother, Jessie L. Jeffries; and sisters, Josephene Langford, Ida Altman, Mae Adcock and Maude Carley.

Survivors include a son, Joseph C. Ables; two daughters, Sandra Reed of Vicksburg and Bobbye Sanderson of Oak Grove, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Christy Shelton (Paul) of Oak Grove, Mo., Gayla Hay (Doug) of Grain Valley, Mo., Lori Kunkle (Jeff) of Athens, Ga., Jackie Nixon of Grain Valley, Robert Reed (Karen) of Brandon, Robin Reed “Jae” Harvey of Woodbridge, Va., Joey Ables (Candice) of Vicksburg, Sheri Ables of Shreveport, La., and Cristin Marbury (Jason) of Vicksburg; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joey Ables, Sammy Stokes, Donald “Duck” Gardner, Jason Marbury, Robert Reed and Paul Shelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Kincaid, Clyde McKinney, Drs. George Abraham and Paul Pierce IV, employees of Hospice Advantage, and J.B. Haden.
