Bond set for two Sharkey County residents accused in 2009 murdersThird suspect to be arraigned Wednesday

Bail was set at $1 million for two of three Sharkey County residents accused of the 2009 murder of Cary woman and her daughter.

Shaun Waller and Stephanie Smith both appeared in Sharkey County Justice Court Tuesday for their initial court appearance after being charged with two counts of murder. Bail was set at $1 million total for both suspects, Sheriff Lindsey Adams Jr. said.

A third suspect, Josephine Warren, has also been charged with two counts of murder and will make her initial court appearance Thursday, Adams said.

The three are accused of killing Karitha Carroll, 31, and her 3-year-old daughter, Jamaya Carroll, who were discovered Sept. 23, 2009, in their home on U.S. 61 in Sharkey County.
