A Port Gibson man was held in Claiborne County Jail this morning for fatally shooting his girlfriend Monday.
At about 5:15 p.m., Ricky Davis, 54, was arrested for fatally shooting Claudine Savage, 46, said Claiborne County Sheriff Marvin Lucas. The couple lived in the Lacashe subdivision of Port Gibson, Lucas said.
Deputy coroner Sharon Thompson Harvey said Savage was pronounced dead at 7:40 p.m. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Sheriff Lucas said that an argument between the couple spurred the incident.
“The couple had a dispute and that led to the shooting,” Lucas said.
Sheriff Lucas said the arrest came after authorities responded to a 911 call from a neighbor.
Davis will have his initial appearance Thursday before Claiborne County Justice Court Judge Jimmy Ellis.
