Bond was set at $100,000 for a Claiborne County man accused in the shooting death of his girlfriend.
Claiborne County Justice Court Judge Jimmy Ellis set the bond for Rickey Davis, 54, after his initial appearance in court Thursday. Police charged Davis with murder on Tuesday. If found guilty, Davis faces life in prison.
Davis was arrested for fatally shooting his lover, Claudine Savage, 46, in their home in Lacashe Subdivision in Port Gibson at about 5:15 p.m. Monday.
Sheriff Marvin Lucas said that an argument between the two lovers is believed to have caused the incident.
“The couple had a dispute and that led to the shooting,” Lucas said.
Lucas said that a call made to 911 by a neighbor of the couple on Monday led to Davis’ arrest.
