GREENWOOD — Michael Thomas Engle Jr. passed away at Baptist Hospital in Jackson on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014.
Mr. Engle, 60, was a loving father of three, and was a banker with Deposit Guaranty National Bank for the majority of his career. He was also employed with Old Republic Exchange Co. and First American Title Insurance Co. before his retirement.
A lifelong Episcopalian, he was born in Canton and was the son of the late Rev. Michael Thomas Engle Sr., and Nancy Napier Engle of Greenwood.
Besides his father, Mr. Engle was preceded in death by his brother, Granville Napier Engle.
Survivors, along with his mother, include his daughter, Campbell Engle Smith and husband Rob of Washington, D.C.; Granville Napier Engle II of New York, and Michael Thomas Engle III, and wife Lauren of Denver.
He is also survived by his aunt, Mrs. Paul Edward Engle Jr., and cousin, Mrs. Wilkie Bee Engle, husband Paul Gonwa, and their two girls.
Mr. Engle attended Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tenn., and graduated from Pillow Academy in Greenwood. He attended Mississippi State University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and graduated from Delta State University.
He was a graduate of the Louisiana School of Banking program at Louisiana State University.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb.7, 2014, with a visitation at 1 p.m. in Greenwood at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
