The Mount Pisgah Baptist Church is sponsoring a concert that will feature the legendary gospel group The Jackson Southernaires and The Sensational Chosen Voices of Greater Grove Street M.B. Church in the Vicksburg City Auditorium Saturday, March 1. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Michel’s Record Store on Washington Street for $15 and $20 at the door. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

The event is an effort by Mount Pisgah to help raise money for repairs to the 53-year-old church building.

Long time member of Mount Pisgah and orchestrator of the event Johnnie Jones has faith in the concert’s success and the choir’s ability to put on a great show.

“I think that everyone will have a good time at the concert. I believe that the choirs will perform really well,” said Johnnie.

Caroline Jones, who’s also a member of the sponsoring church, is excited about the event because it’s a new experience for the church.

“We have never done anything like this. This is outstanding and I am really looking forward to the event,” said Caroline.
