Clem “Excel” Dickerson

Clem Dickerson died Feb. 7 at his home following a sudden illness. He was 75.

Mr. Dickerson was a retired deckhand for the Mat Sinking Unit and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Dickerson, Sr., and LeVilla Betts; and two brothers, George W. Dickerson Jr. and Tommy Lee Dickerson.

Survivors include a son, Timmy Harris of Vicksburg; three daughters, Stephanie Gaines-Hills of Richmon, Calif., Yvette Price of Memphis, and Cleo Dickerson of Columbia, Md. and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and others.

Services will be Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at noon in the chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating.
