Q.H. McDaniel, Jr.

Q.H. “Quit” McDaniel, Jr. died March 7, 2014 at 91 years old while surrounded by his family.
A native of Yazoo City, MS, Mr. McDaniel graduated from McComb City High School in 1940. He graduated from the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy prior to World War II. He earned a Bronze Star Medal while serving in the Navy in the Pacific/Asiatic Theatre.
After the war, he attended the University of Mississippi Pharmacy School and graduated in August of 1949. He moved to Port Gibson in 1952 where he owned and operated McDaniel Pharmacy for 47 years. A charter member of the Mosswood Country Club, he was instrumental in the success and longevity of the Club and golf course. He was also member of St. James Episcopal Church.
Mr. Mac, as he was affectionately called, was honored to have been able to work with so many wonderful people throughout the years, and he wishes to thank them along with all of his customers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Q. H. McDaniel; his wife of 41 years, Bessie McDavid McDaniel, and wife of three years, Bennie Chatham.
Survivors are Q. H. “Bud” McDaniel, II (Marty); Jenny Lee (Wendell); Pat McDaniel (Anne); Catherine Lowe; Bob McDaniel (Debbie); eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 with services to follow. Interment will be in McComb. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
