HENDERSON, Tenn. — Brenda Joan Conner Brown died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She was 71.
She was born in Bessemer, Ala., and grew up in Mobile, Ala. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Ruth Fell Conner, and graduated from Theodore High School in Mobile. She later took college courses at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson.
She married Bobby J. Brown in 1960, and lived in Vicksburg for 30 years, where he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They moved to Henderson in 1995, where he to taught pre-engineering at Freed-Hardeman University.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Freed-Hardeman Associates, Ingleside/Pentagon Club and supported all the Lions Club activities. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Denise Ferguson, and a grandson, Cole Ferguson.
Survivors include her husband; a son, J. Scott Brown of Dallas; a daughter, Robin Danae Halford of Corpus Christi, Texas; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Henderson Church of Christ with Ben Flatt, Roy Sharp and Billy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Directors.
