Thelma G. Majors

YAZOO CITY — Thelma G. Majors died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. She was 85.
She was born May 26, 1928, in Sharkey County to Howell Stokes and Nellie Briggs. She was a retired postmaster for Holly Bluff and a member of Holly Bluff Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lamar Majors of Holly Bluff; three daughters, Liz Langley and Carolyn Pogue, both of Holly Bluff, and Lynda Jones of Yazoo City; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Williams of Tennessee, Maxine Clements of Raymond, and Sylvia McGraw of Benton; a brother, Herbert Stokes of Vicksburg.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City with the Rev. Malcolm Massey officiating. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Ray, Darrell Hearn, Derek Lack, Jason Aldy, Freddie Birdno and William Derris. Honorary pallbearers will be William Sharbough and Forrest Williams.
